Overview: Founded in 1968, BAGFAŞ is Turkey’s first integrated chemical fertilizer producer. Located on the southern coast of the Sea of Marmara between Bandırma and Erdek, the company has become a leading fertilizer manufacturer and exporter.
Main Operations:
Acid Production Facilities: BAGFAŞ has a sulfur-based sulfuric acid production facility with a daily capacity of 1,650 tons, using double-contact, double-absorption technology. Additionally, it produces phosphoric acid with a daily capacity of 440 tons, utilizing advanced hemihydrate and dihydrate filtration technologies.
Fertilizer Production Facilities: BAGFAŞ operates two granulation plants that produce DAP (Diammonium Phosphate) and various compound fertilizers. These plants use pipe reactor technology, which enhances energy efficiency and minimizes environmental impact.
Auxiliary Facilities: BAGFAŞ generates 10 MW of electricity using steam from sulfuric acid production and has bagging facilities capable of packaging up to 5,000 tons of fertilizer daily into 50 kg bags.
Social Responsibility: BAGFAŞ has established several community-focused projects, including soil analysis laboratories, mosques, and libraries. Its founder, Recep Gençer, also funded the Recep Gençer Technical High School, an important contribution to local education.
